James Stealy
Position: Supervisor, Retail Operations
How long have you been working for Medicine Man?
June 2nd will be my 5th year anniversary!
What’s your favorite product & why? Or something you always recommend to your customers!
I really enjoy concentrates, especially Rosin. Anything made with Rosin, such as edibles, cartridges, and grams of rosin by itself will always be my favorite. Solventless plant products are the way to go! Green Dot Labs, Lazercat, and Dialed In are some of my favorite brands. Having more of the plant’s power in terms of Cannabinoids and Terpenes really brings out the characteristics of the product.
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
I love beatboxing, making and listening to music. I enjoy the outdoors, camping and hiking. I also enjoy playing and modding video games.
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?
My favorite part about working for Medicine Man is feeling like I belong and am appreciated for the efforts made to assist in successfully running the store. I have multiple favorite memories but some of the best are the company holiday parties, as well as some of the 4/20 events we put on. It’s always fun to get together with fellow co-workers, managers and Sally! I truly enjoy the conversations and stories shared.
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
I remember the first time I smoked hash, it was out of a 3 liter gravity bong. I got so high that I left this plane of existence temporarily and went to what my friends and I now call Gravity Land. I lay in the bathroom for 2-3 hours trying to find my way back to reality. I believe that was probably the most “lit” I have been.
Fun fact about yourself
Within my career of Beatboxing I have opened for big names such as: Tech N9ne, Nappy Roots, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Krizz Kaliko, Snow Tha Product. Also, Kato on the track who is a 6x Billboard-Charting music producer enjoyed my beatboxing and posted me on his Instagram a couple years ago.
If you were a food, what food would you be and why?
Anybody who knows me, knows that “I like food” is something I say a lot. I have a hard time choosing just one, because I love all food! So I choose Food. Because I am so diverse and have a lot of different tastes. I would love to travel and try different dishes from all over the world! That is absolutely one of my goals in life.
Something you’re excited about or looking forward to with our company or the industry as a whole, or where you see this industry taking you!
I am excited to see where Medicine Man evolves too being a part of one of the largest Cannabis companies in America! I am also excited to see where this industry may possibly take my career. 5 years in and I am very grateful for the things I have learned as well as the people I have met. I hope to continue on this path of learning, and I look forward to gaining more connections and opportunities in the future!

The Coda Chocolates because they are delicious.
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
Computer gaming and building random toys and machines out of the spare parts I have lying around the house.
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?
I love the work/life balance and my co-workers. I started out in the trim room and had some days where I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. That was an odd yet awesome experience. It wasn’t like it is today since we all sat down with a plant and hand-trimmed it with scissors. We cracked a lot of jokes to keep the job fun and make the time go by quicker.
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
I remember Dixie Elixirs being so lousy on the potency that a 50mg bottle did nothing to me. The next weekend I tried a 50mg Pot-Shot, thinking I’d have a similar experience, and boy howdy I was wasted. What a difference a vendor makes.

My favorite part about working for MM is my coworkers. I enjoy being around everyone I work with because we have a fun, team oriented environment, but we also hussle and get the job done! It was a fun team building experience for my coworkers and I and we all felt great about giving back to the community.
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
Sorry mom, the first time I smoked marijuana was in high school. We actually used to be able to get “kind” bud as we called it. No shwag for me! Anyways, my friends and I got together in the woods, sat in a circle, smoked a bowl, and laughed for about two hours straight. I remember my cheeks hurt so bad from laughing.

Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
My first time smoking was with a bunch of my friends in high school. We ended up walking to Kroger and one of them found a huge chunk of peanut butter in his bag of Nutty Buddy’s. He made the biggest deal out of it. Someone asked if he had “won an iPod” and he replied with “Even better…” and pulled out the huge chunk of peanut butter for everyone to see. We all laughed for hours.

Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
The first time I ever ate edibles we ate WAY too many. My buddy had just got some of his teeth removed so he was already on meds but we thought he would be okay. He ended up getting really sick, but before he got sick he looked terrible and started to turn green and we could tell he was going to chuck. To this day we call him “the hulk” because he turned green from those edibles 😂

Preston
Position: Cure Supervisor
How long have you been working for Medicine Man?
2 Years come September.
What’s your favorite product & why? Or something you always recommend to your customers!
I’m old-fashioned, I prefer flower. I like the organic, planty feel that comes from nugs as opposed to concentrates and edibles.
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
I love music, I play guitar, sing, and play drums, I’m an avid longboarder and I do custom paint jobs on boards, and plastic Gundam models called Gunpla. I love playing video games and just generally tinkering with things. I like to build things and work on mechanical devices.
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?
I love the general easygoing feel of the business and the awesome attitudes of the people. For example, a while ago, when I was helping the previous cure lead, he decided to startle Sean, the trim lead, when he came back into the room. But as he jumped out and yelled, he realized it was our supervisor, not Sean at all. I have never in my life seen two people’s eyes get so big, one due to surprise, the other due to realization of his current mistake. But after the initial shock faded, everyone had a laugh, and a little talk about surprising people, and all was well. Most other jobs I’ve worked at, someone would be getting written up, but people here are chill and reasonable, so even something like that wasn’t a problem.
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
The first time I ever consumed Marijuana, I ate half of a 25mg lollipop with a friend of mine. We proceeded to eat an entire barrel of cheese puffs in an hour, made gigantic ice cream sandwiches in bread pans, and broke my friend’s cotton candy machine while climbing on a billiards table. It was a fantastic, blurry and munchie-filled night.
Fun fact about yourself
I have been slowly teaching myself to beatbox.
If you were a food, what food would you be and why?
I AM A BURRITO! I am a myriad of various likes, dislikes, opinions, talents and habits all wrapped up in a human tortilla. But despite all the craziness inside, my outside is fairly mellow, just like a tortilla. Flour or corn, take yo pick.
Something you’re excited about or looking forward to with our company or the industry as a whole, or where you see this industry taking you!
I’m super excited to see how legalization would affect the general landscape of culture. I think that a widespread appreciation of this plant will drastically benefit society and humans as a whole, and I’m so happy to be a part of the industry that will make that happen.

What’s your favorite product & why? Or something you always recommend to your customers!
While I love a good head high, most of my favorite products are CBD. I frequently use the Wana Wellness and Spherex Chill, but I think my favorite is the Become CBD grams. The versatility is just perfect, able to turn any bowl into a CBD bowl or I like to create 1:1 dabs on my tool by coating a THC concentrate in CBD.

I have the privilege of being dog mom to my little Lucy pup, who goes with me always. I enjoy a stoned afternoon with my man Rob, keep a variety of plant babies, and love a quick weekend getaway to Estes Park.
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?

Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
When I had just started smoking weed, I tried hash for the first time. That night, I got thrown out of a convenience store for opening too many straws, trying to find the longer ones for my giant slushie. Straw after straw, it never stopped being funny to me. Even as they were pushing me out, I was in stitches.

Tell us something you look forward to about working in the cannabis industry! Maybe share any goals (personal and professional) that you have!
As someone who uses cannabis for equilibrium, it’s been so great to see cannabis use be destigmatized. I love helping people navigate cannabis for purposes beyond just getting high, whether that be a good night’s sleep or pain relief, or reconnecting with a partner. I believe cannabis can help us all be our best selves. I’m excited to see it normalized for all adults.

Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
Very first time I smoked was in Texas, at age 21. A friend of mine from elementary school had recently moved back to Texas from California. After unpacking everything, she rolled a blunt and after a little convincing I tried it…a few times. Even though we were supposed to be brainstorming lyrics for music for her upcoming album, we ended up watching “The Devil Wears Prada” and falling asleep on the couch together. Only time I’ve slept with a girl lol. That was the start of my obsession with cannabis.

I was so surprised, I appreciate this company for everything they have done for me.
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
The first time I smoked was with my younger brother. I was always the kid that did not smoke or do much of anything that was not allowed. My brother on the other hand had been smoking since he was 11. I was about 16 when I first smoked cannabis. We were in my car in the driveway listening to music. My brother had weed but no pipe, he reached into my back seat for an empty Pepsi can and bent one end to poke some holes on the top. He then loaded the area that was bent and lit it up, passed it to me, I hit it and coughed so hard for a few minutes. I was HIGH! I have been smoking ever since. Thanks Bro!

How long have you been working for Medicine Man?
Since August 29, 2019. I remember exactly because it is also my son’s birthday.
What’s your favorite product & why?
Rosin is my favorite kind of product. Dabbing is my preferred way to consume and rosin always melts cleaner than other forms of concentrate. For me, it gives a high closer to what the strain is supposed to be like due to the presence of the terpenes and other cannabinoids that could be removed during a solvent extraction.
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
I have a 3 year old son so when I’m not at work I’m picking up after him and that keeps me busy. Once he’s asleep for the night though I’ll turn on a video game and relax with either a shooter style or RPG and just get lost in another world.
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?
There is genuine care from every single coworker. We always try to pick up spirits and keep positivity flowing. I always tell customers that I come to work to relax One of my favorite memories was the 2019 Christmas party. Being a brand new member of the company I didn’t know what was gonna happen. It was such a warm and inviting atmosphere and everyone was having fun playing games and enjoying some quality smoke. I stayed as late as I could that evening having a blast!
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
Have you ever accidentally (but safely) gotten high? My friend and I set up my brother’s hookah one night in the basement of my dad’s house and just left the mixture in the pipe because it was still fairly fresh and we didn’t want to waste it. Good thing we did that, because it turns out my brother mixed weed into the tobacco too. My friend and I ended up slowly leaning on each other on the couch while I held the hose for the both of us. After we landed on the Animal Planet channel I looked at her, asked if she felt high and then she answered with a burst of laughter which lasted for about 10 whole minutes.

I have worked for Medicine Man for well over 5 years. This April will mark year 6!
What’s your favorite product & why?
Live resin. Personally, I feel live resin has much more flavor and that’s why I smoke it. Lately, I’ve been smoking a lot of Harmony budders, specifically Lemon G but I don’t stay loyal to any brand. In the end, it’s all about the flavor!
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
I have a puppy who keeps me pretty occupied at the moment. When I am not playing with him I’m watching football or maybe playing some 2k. When it’s nice outside, my lady and I try to get out and enjoy this beautiful state we get to call home!
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?
Medicine Man truly cares about each and every employee. From the top down you are treated with respect and your hard work is valued.
I have so many great and fun memories from Denver, to Aurora and now Thornton. There are a few that always jump out at me though. Meeting Mike Epps and selling him some weed at the Denver location was something I will never forget. Smoking with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts after her show here in Denver a couple of years ago all thanks to Medicine Man. I will never forget stickering and setting up the Thornton store the night before we opened. We had all hands on deck till damn near 2 AM. We got it done though, and this store has turned into a huge success. I couldn’t be happier.
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember?
The first time I smoked weed like many of us I am sure. I was with my older brother back in Minnesota. All I can remember is smoking weed out of a tinfoil pipe of all things! Getting really high laying down on the bed and getting the worst case of munchies I have ever had. My brother being much much bigger than me and older bullied me to wait on him hand and foot. I could barely move and stop laughing so needless to say he didn’t get much!

How long have you been working for Medicine Man? I have been with Medicine Man for about a year and a half. I enjoy it so much that it really doesn’t feel that long.
How did you get started in the cannabis industry and where do you see yourself in the future? My journey in cannabis began when a friend shared with me how much she enjoyed being in the industry. I am someone who has to REALLY enjoy what I do, and honestly, I was tired of stocking overnight at a grocery store. I initially was employed by an attorney who specialized in DUI’s. Unfortunately, he passed away and I never finished school and wasn’t able to join another firm. I worked hard for him for a solid four years! So, long story short, working in the industry was no question for me being that I already knew most of the legalities and I am a consumer myself. I have been in the industry for about four years now and I’ve been happy ever since! I love being able to answer questions about the science of cannabis and enjoy sharing my knowledge with my customers! I eventually plan to finish my Associate’s Degree in Paralegal and continue to work in the industry as well!
What’s your favorite product & why? My favorite brand is 1906. It really is a form of medicine for myself and many of my regular customers. Their Chill Pills are great for anxiety and stress! My all-time favorite would have to be the Bliss Pills! Anyone who knows me will know that I love my coffee and my Bliss Pills.
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work? Outside of work, I am a full-time mommy and teacher to my beautiful, six-year-old daughter Trinity! Before all the craziness in this world, our hobbies consisted of Dance Academy, library trips, mountain adventures and I was heavily involved with all of her school activities!
Fun fact about yourself: I am the youngest sibling! I have two older brothers and three older sisters. That’s probably the reason I am tough!!!
(Also, I’ve never been pulled over by a cop, knock on wood)
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share? My favorite part about working for Medicine Man is coming into work every day knowing that I’m capable of leading and knowing that the crew being led does enjoy working with their leader! I make it a fun and enjoyable environment while still enforcing the rules and doing my job!! I will always remember our Christmas party when we had all four locations outside smoking a 10-gram joint called Godfather!
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember? My first time smoking weed was horrible! The group I was with was experienced and I clearly was not! We were in a circle with about ten people and when we were done smoking, someone thought it was funny to yell, “cops!” Everyone immediately started running. And here is the crazy part, I thought I was running with the group but I was actually waaaay behind running in place! Still to this day, I question if that was even weed???
If you were a food, what food would you be and why? I would have to say EGGS! Who doesn’t love waking up to a big plate of EGGS and coffee? Or does coffee count? If so, it’s coffee hands down!!!

How long have you been working for Medicine Man?
I have been with Medicine Man for a little bit over a year and a half now
What’s your favorite product & why?
My favorite products are definitely the Rosins we get in from all over. Nothing beats fresh terps and a solventless extraction for flavor and the quality of the high itself.
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
You can find me at a park watching my daughter go crazy most days, but when I can escape and I get some time to myself I enjoy a nice lakeside spot for some fishing and lots of snacks with my wife!
Fun fact about yourself:
I was the Denver Nuggets Ball Boy when I was around 5! I got to meet Jason Kidd and get his autograph and now he is a Hall of Famer which is pretty cool!
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man and a memory you want to share?
My favorite part about working for Medicine Man is the Mom and Pop shop experience that you get working here. There is a genuine care for all who work here and it reflects out towards our customers who say the same about the Mom and Pop shop experience. Having worked for big corporations you tend to not feel like you matter, here at Medicine Man the owners and everyone down the ladder are so involved that you feel like your opinion matters! Makes it super easy to show up for work each day because of their support.
I would honestly have to say my favorite memory here was doing the curbside pickup for a week. It was hectic, historic in the sense of selling weed outside like we did, and customers and coworkers alike were all just coming together to make it work and enjoy our favorite products!
Tell us about your first time smoking or eating edibles, or any funny stories that you remember!
My first time smoking I remember showing up to the Greeley Stampede for the Carnival and it was the best night of eating/munchies I’ve had. I remember riding the Gravitron which is a ride that spins you super fast to stick you to the wall, and that made my high even stronger! I proceeded to eat a turkey Leg, funnel cake, kettle corn, BBQ, and my favorite homemade rootbeer stand was visited quite frequently. This was by far the best night of munchies I have ever experienced!

I am a heavy Indica smoker and our Shaw Bud #3 is one of my favorites!
What kind of hobbies do you do outside of work?
I have been Breakdancing since I was about 16 years old and it has always been one of my passions! I also enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and hitting the Jeep trails when I can find the time!
How did you get started in the cannabis industry and where do you see yourself in the future?
I started off trimming part-time with Medicine Man before we opened up our Medical Dispensary. It had been a few months and I had been telling the owners that if an opportunity came around to move into a Budtending position, I would take it and never look back. Here we are 10 years later.
Your favorite part about working for Medicine Man?
I have never worked for a company that has cared more about or has taken care of their employees as Medicine Man has! For over a decade we have strived to be one of the most compliant and highest rated Dispensaries in Colorado! We definitely aimed, hit, and set “The Higher Standard!”
What is one of your earliest/funniest memories you have while using cannabis?
One of my earliest memories and experiences smoking cannabis would have to be getting together with my cousin and sitting at a friend’s house for a day. My cousin and I took a bunch of “Bong rips” and ate about three boxes of our friend’s cereal without milk. When our friend got back home the next morning my cousin and I were passed out asleep in the Livingroom on the floor with Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 on the T.V and the 3 empty cereal boxes and bags laid out around us!
If you were a food, what food would you be and why?
I would be a Pizza with Ham and Pineapple! Because the people who love ham and pineapple on their pizza would LOVE me and the people who believe that it is “KAPU” wouldn’t even bother with me! LOL!
