The three most common strains of marijuana plants are sativa, indica, and hybrid. Indica plants are associated with sedative and relaxing effects, whereas sativa plants are used for their stimulating effects. Hybrid strains provide both effects due to the balance of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabinoids (CBD). Medicine Man sells all three types of strains at our medicinal and recreational dispensaries.
Origins of Sativa
Cannabis sativa grows in hot, dry climes with several sunny days. Sativa plants can grow up to twelve feet, though they mature more slowly than other types of marijuana plants. Sativa plants have high concentrations of THC and low concentrations of CBD, commonly resulting in the stimulating sensations when consumed.
Notable Sativa Strains
Amnesia Haze has a THC concentration of 21%, and the smells associated smoking it have been described as sweet with a hint of sour lemons. Sour Diesel is a strain that is grown in California and has a THC concentration of 20%; its aftertaste has been described as fruity, with an emphasis on citrus fruits. Green Crack has a reputation as a “wake and bake” strain due to its 22% THC concentration and its common usage to stimulate and energize its users. Durban Poison is one of the few 100% sativa breeds that is revered for its stimulating effects due to its 20% THC concentration.
